When reclusive puzzle-setter John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor’s identical twin, DCI James Taylor, mysteriously disappears, John assumes his brother’s identity in an attempt to discover what happened to him. There is only one problem: James leads Cambridge’s busy Major Investigations Team, leaving John to solve a succession of murders while trying not to reveal that he is, in fact, an impostor.

Blending classic murder mystery with comedy and an overarching family mystery, Ludwig was a wonderfully distinctive world to help create. From the ordered, analogue surroundings of Ludwig’s own life to the police station and the many homes, workplaces and crime scenes encountered throughout the series, each set offered its own character, visual language and practical challenges.

I’m forever grateful for the laughter that filled our Art Department offices throughout this production. Television is an intensely collaborative process, and Ludwig brought together an exceptional group of people who continually found inventive solutions to the challenges thrown at us.

My thanks go to the entire Art and Set Decoration departments, with a special mention to my wonderful collaborators and colleagues Melanie Allen, Neil McAllister, Oliver Bush and Alice Sherborne, whose combined creativity seemed to know no bounds.
