SET DEC SUPERSTARS: THE COLOUR SESSIONS
SET DEC SUPERSTARS: THE COLOUR SESSIONS
Set Dec Superstars is a series of online sessions for creatives working across Film, Television and Spatial Design.
Designed to demystify the practical and creative realities of working within Set Decoration teams, each session combines real production experience with approachable, honest discussion around the workflows, challenges and visual decision-making that shape our industry.
Our next session explores the role of Colour within visual storytelling, and how thoughtful palette choices can completely transform the feeling of a space on camera.
This online evening session is designed for those working within, or aspiring to work within, Film, Television and Spatial Design who would like to develop a more confident and practical understanding of colour and how it behaves on camera. The course will take place as a single 1.5 hour online session and is limited to a small group so we can learn together in an open and conversational environment.
Particularly suited to Post-Graduates, Junior Art Department crew, emerging Designers and creatives moving into screen-based work, the session will explore how colour is used as a storytelling and visual tool within production design and set decoration.
Together, we’ll cover the following areas:
Understanding Colour Beyond the Colour Wheel
Building Cohesive Colour Palettes for Screen
Using Colour to Support Character, Mood and Narrative
How to Avoid Common Colour Mistakes on Set
Working Alongside Costume, Lighting and Camera Departments
Practical Approaches to Colour Sourcing and Dressing
Real Production Examples and Case Studies
Colour is one of the most powerful tools within visual storytelling, yet it is often approached instinctively rather than strategically. Throughout the session, we’ll discuss practical working methods used across Film and Television productions. You will leave the session with a clearer understanding of how to use colour with confidence across Set Decoration and Design projects..
Once you have booked, all information regarding the session will be sent via email, including the online Zoom link required to join. Early booking is advised as these courses are often oversubscribed!
